SOLAR PV SYSTEM HEALTH CHECK A REASON WHY YOU COULD NEED ONE…
It started with a telephone call…
Question – “How much would it be for a new solar PV inverter?”
Experience tells us to always ask questions …..
Our answer “Why, is your inverter broken?“
Reply . “No, we have been told its time served, inefficient and we need a new one”
Our response “Has it stopped working? Are there any fault codes or lights on the inverter?“
Reply. “No, the green lights are still on and the meter is changing, so we don’t know; but we have been told it is going to cost £3,000 to replace.”
🚩 Scam call, the customer is now unduly concerned 🚩
Question. “Would you like us to call out and undertake a Solar PV System Health Check?”
Reply. “Are you in Loughborough, Leicestershire? as we want someone local”
Our response “Yes, we are in Loughborough. I will send you an email with our details for you to confirm in writing that you want to go ahead with a visit.”
OUTCOME
We attended site, tested the system and provided the customer with a hand written Solar PV System Health Check including the test result sheet and comments.
The system was in good working order, performing as expected against the MCS forecast at installation 10 years ago, and a new inverter was not required.
New Solar PV Panels or a new solar PV inverter were not required and would not have increased the output of the system, they would just have increased the payback on the customers investment.
