GoodWe Solar Inverter Standard WarrantiesGoodWe Solar Inverters arrive with a minimum standard 66 month (5 years, 6 month) warranty period and some models have a standard 126 months (10 years, 6 months) warranty so it's worth checking which one you have. GoodWe offer the option to extend their minimum 66 month warranty up to a maximum of 20 years. Some installers/resellers take out the extended warranties to incentivise purchases so it's worth checking out if you have one of the extended warranty packages against your inverter as this may make all the difference if your inverter is faulty.

One of our clients recently reported a potential solar inverter fault which meant that the mains supply to their solar inverter would intermittently trip. This had reached the stage where the main RCD would not reset unless the Solar PV inverter was switched off. The client also reported that their solar PV system was underperforming when compared to their neighbour’s equivalent system on a similar pitch and elevation.
How we diagnosed and fixed this suspected solar inverter fault
Power One PVI3.6 OUTD Solar Inverter Tripping Mains SupplyWe attended the site to carry out earth leakage current checks on the side of the consumer unit which was protected by a 30mA RCD which supplied the Power One PVI3.6 Solar Inverter. The leakage current was monitored with all circuits other than the inverter supply connected. ... Read More
We recently had a call from a client in Ratby, Leicestershire, reporting that one string of a dual string inverter would trip the Trannergy PVI4000TL solar Inverter when isolated. C Gascoigne visited the site and the system was checked and no solar PV fault was found. However, as part of the system check we did discover a faulty main RCD which was was located on the house consumer unit which would not trip under any circumstances. This could have left the customer and his property in danger if left unattended. The RCD unit was replaced from stock on the day and the site left safe once again. This is an excellent example of why testing should be carried out at regular intervals on all Solar PV systems. If you would like to book...Read More
As a Fronius Service Partner this enquiry originated from the Fronius help desk. We were informed that the Fronius inverter had fault code 417 showing which indicates a DC card failure. The customer was offered a replacement DC card with a 1 year warranty or a replacement Fronius Galvo 1.5 inverter with a full 5 years’ manufacturers warranty. In this case the customer decided it would be prudent to opt for the latest technology and have a new solar inverter. As part of the works the customer requested that the solar inverter be relocated. It was also noted as part of our site visit that the DC isolator switch was none lockable, a regulatory requirement. This was also rectified as part of the inverter replacement/relocation work. SMA SB4000TL solar inverter - Inverter showing intermittent insulation resistance fault, (fault code 35).C Gascoigne were recently called to a site to locate and provide solar PV fault diagnosis on a suspected fault as PV cable connectors were left unsecured in puddles of water on a roof mounted array. We are currently waiting for a dry day to re-attend and safely remedy the problem. It was also noted whilst on site that the panels had been mounted with the diode boxes at the bottom of the panels. This may lead to water ingress as water flows down the cables and toward the boxes instead of away from the boxes. The array frame has also been installed directly onto the felt roof, this would benefit from being installed on rubber matting to... Read More
